It should be obvious that you’re not going to change the world in six weeks. But it was a good feeling to make a small contribution to the project. Being able to volunteer in Sri Lanka simply meant that I was able to help other people with things you can offer them, such as your man power, your motivation to change things, new ideas and your knowledge. If there is one thing I will never forget the hospitality and the openness of the people.

I loved being able to work in community development in Tangalle as it gave me first hand insight into the culture of the people and rural life in Sri Lanka. Being able to teach kids English was an experience as well as I felt I was making a hands on difference. Would I recommend 2nd Partner to other volunteers? Definitely.

“Compared to some other volunteer projects, there is a lot of flexibility with project activities here. This suits to volunteers that are decisive and quite independent. Long term volunteers are more than welcome here as well, but short term volunteers can do a lot to help too. I liked the project, place and people a lot and I plan to come back soon.”
